6ft fence halts man found with drugs and weapon

Police in Kirkby have reported a busy start to the New Year after officers acted on information from the public about suspected drug dealing in the area.

Members of the Kirkby Beat Team were alerted to concerns and soon spotted a man behaving suspiciously while exchanging items in an alleyway. When officers approached, the man ran off but was stopped after attempting to climb a six-foot fence.

Following a search, officers found the suspect in possession of a significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs, a sum of cash and an improvised weapon. Further searches uncovered additional items believed to be capable of being used as weapons.
