Plea following overcrowding at hospital
Bosses at King’s Mill Hospital issued an urgent public appeal as the emergency department faced unprecedented pressure due to severe overcrowding.
On Thursday, April 24, Sherwood Forest Hospitals, which runs the site, said it was treating almost double the number of patients it was designed for, with 152 people currently waiting to be assessed and treated.
A total of 21 patients in need of admission were waiting for beds to become available and more than 60 patients who were medically fit for discharge remained in hospital beds, occupying space that could be used for those arriving at the emergency department.
The trust has urged the public to support efforts to ease the strain on services, asking families of patients ready for discharge to assist in their transition home as soon as possible.
Open date plan for former cinema
A former cinema in an Ashfield town is set to re-open to the public as a community venue within a matter of weeks.
