Garage owner backs flu jab after 16 days in coma

A man is urging people to get their flu jab after spending 16 days in a coma with the virus — despite being previously fit and healthy.

Aaron Clark, 42, a Sutton-in-Ashfield garage owner, had no underlying health issues when he was struck down with flu in December last year.

Within days, he was in an induced coma in intensive care at King’s Mill Hospital, relying on a ventilator and dialysis machine after developing multi-organ failure.

“One of the first things I remember when I came round was a doctor saying, ‘well done, we don’t have many people come back from as far as you did’,” Aaron recalled. “I had a really close call.”
