Pub welcomes back customers after ‘glow up’
A popular pub has reopened following a full refurbishment aimed at enhancing the experience for customers.
The Fox and Crown in Dalestorth Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, temporarily closed on 29 April to undergo a series of improvements.
The renovation included increasing seating capacity, installing larger TV screens, and upgrading facilities.
A spokesperson for the Greene King pub said: “We’re so excited to show you our glow-up.”
The pub officially reopened to the public on 23 May, just in time for the bank holiday weekend and May half-term.
Man in court after incidents in town
A man has been charged and brought before the courts following a serious assault and an attempted robbery in Mansfield earlier this month.
The first incident took place on 13 May, when a man was attacked while walking home from a pub.
The assault happened at around 8.50pm in Maun View, where the victim was approached by a man known to him.
He was struck on the back of the head and kicked, resulting in a broken rib, punctured lung, and the loss of several teeth.
Just days later, in the early hours of 19 May, a second incident occurred in Broxtowe Drive, where another man was threatened with violence during an attempted robbery.
The same victim also reported enduring months of harassment.
Gary Chadwick, aged 44, of Broxtowe Drive, Mansfield, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted robbery, and harassment.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 21 May and has been remanded in custody. He is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 18 June 2025.
Detective Sergeant Rachel Mayfield, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The assault victim suffered significant injuries and officers have worked hard on the investigation.
Violence of this nature will always be met with a robust and determined response from the force.”
