Wanted man found hiding behind bin
A wanted man was caught trying to dodge police by hiding behind a dustbin in Kirkby-in-Ashfield.
Officers from the Kirkby Beat Team tracked him down on the Coxmoor Estate after he tried to give a false name and talk his way out of trouble.
But after a few checks his identity was discovered and he was sent straight back to HMP Nottingham.
He was one of three fugitives wanted on recall to prison who were rounded up in a matter of days by police.
A second man refused to answer a door when requested by police, but officers were able to get inside.
A third was discovered fast asleep in a shed.
Posting on social media, a spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police’s Kirkby Beat Team said: “The mini crime wave they had committed whilst on the run was put to a short sharp end.”
Locals helped provide vital information leading to the arrests — and officers say nearby shops are “likely to be breathing a sigh of relief” with the trio now back behind bars.
