Controversial logistics hub gets green light
A major new logistics and manufacturing site can be built on greenbelt land off the M1, despite heavy criticism from residents.
One objector to the proposal for land next to Junction 27 went so far as to label the scheme, first mooted in 2022, as a “joke”.
Documents submitted to Ashfield District Council at the start of the planning process stated the development would provide an extension to the Sherwood Business Park.
It would be built on greenbelt land between the M1, next to the sliproad for Junction 27, and the business park itself.
The outline plans approved by Ashfield District Council state the appearance of the development would be revealed at a later date, when the plans moved forward to the reserved matters stage.
